"Domestic Space | Anniversary Edition" -15 years of Zweigstelle Berlin | 18.2.-22.4.2023

Since the beginning of his career at the Kabinett für aktuelle Kunst in Bremerhaven (1975-1980), as director and founding member of the Museum für (Sub-)Kultur in Berlin (1980-1983) on the chairmanship of the Kunstverein Aichach (2001-2011) to the establishment of Zweigstelle Berlin (2008 - present) and augsburg-contemporary (2019 - present) Andreas Stucken has working with contemporary artists and collecting art  which now spans a period of five decades. In addition, his online gallery Zweigstelle Berlin celebrates its 15th anniversary this year. It is certainly not an inappropriate time to reopen the collection archive after 2012*, to give space for reflection and to strive for a current evaluation that should show what was relevant from the collector Andreas Stucken's point of view and what points of contact there are with the here and now. Collecting is remembering. Collecting creates encounters, collecting is the future. 35 selected works of art from 50 years and 4 locations*, which are now being shown together for the first time, fromthe nucleus of Andreas Stucken's art collection, which was put together during this period, so all in all a very personal view of recent art history with a very serious claim to quality. The aim of the collection was and is to see the individual works as placeholders for encounters with contemporary artists and/or projects carried out, and thus to create a narrative exhibition situation with this retrospective: *Bremerhaven - Berlin - Aichach - Augsburg

As part of the the Federal Government Commissioner for Culture and the Media initiated aid package NEUSTART KULTUR wrote the Stiftung Kunstfonds the special funding programme 20/21 for galleries of contemporary art. Zweigstelle Berlin received for her project “Domestic Space“ a grant. In 3 consecutive exhibitions in the showroom of the gallery “augsburg-contemporary“ were carried out in the first half of 2021 using 9 exemplary examples from the extensive portfolio of Zweigstelle Berlin under the title "Domestic Space" the areas Photography, Painting and sculpture. For this purpose, 3 artists per segment were invited to show their artworks, one artist per section developed a work of art / installation specifically for this space. At the same time, the exhibitions were digitized and thus presented to a broader public. The project goal was to generate new works of art using innovative 3D technology (multimedia installation, 3D prints) and to include the outside space of the gallery (shop window).

Bettina Kohlen wrote in a3Kultur: "augsburg-contemporary is the new art co-op of the gallery owners Claudia Weil (Claudia Weil Gallery, Friedberg-Rinnenthal) and Andreas Stucken (Zweigstelle Berlin), who will jointly run the mini-store with the large display window on Bergstrasse in the future. Very pleasing, an enrichment. Even if you just walk past it ..."
